The ABC's of Brussels, Belgium: Adventure, Beer, & Chocolate

It’s always the places you know the least about, have never yet traveled to, and have no expectations on that surprise you with so much to experience and explore. Brussels, Belgium was one of the destinations on our European adventure that at first - I truly only knew was famous for beer, chocolate, and waffles. After exploring the city by way of Sandeman’s walking tour and beer tour, Brussels ended up being one of my favorite experiences full of fun, food, and historic beauty and culture.

Magali (who goes by Magi) was our Sandeman’s tour guide - she is a native Belgian who is fierce, entertaining, and ensures you experience Brussels like a local!! The tour starts out in the center of the famous Grand Place where you are surrounded by 300+ year beautiful old gothic architecture. The center is full of rich history that you truly only get to learn by listening to locals like our tour guide Magi. Be sure to bring your comfortable walking shoes because you explore on foot (the best way to see the city in my opinion) ALL of go-to locations which include the famous Menneken Pis statue, the shops in Galeries Saint Hubert, the Royal Palace, the breathtaking views from Mont Des Arts, and are offered suggestions for food/dining/you name it along the way. We opted for the additional beer tour at night that was a great night time experience! Learning about elegant Belgium beer and walking around with your beer in hand throughout the city is definitely the best kind of beer buzzed fun. The tour guides at Sandeman’s are able to breakdown the history of the city, the culture, suggestions for things to do/sights to see/you name it. Sandeman’s tour guides know the most famous places of Brussels to share as well as the secret spots that only a true local would know - I highly recommend you get a feel for the city by way of the tour(s) which you can learn more about from their website.
